Project Overview

Tapeworm is not a clean digital delay. Instead, we've modeled a tape machine inside a computer program. This echoes with wobbly, wiggly, dirty character.

It gives the unique property that delay time is set by tape speed — meaning that changing the delay time changes the pitch of the tape.

Tapeworm has a novel way of modulating delay time via speed — by bouncing two tape reels around, stretching the 'tape-worm' longer or shorter, slowing down or speeding up the tape. This leads to pitch-shifting echoes that change randomly.

Delay time can be manually set, and feedback can be overdriven. If it gets loud, clipping is handled by analog-modeled compression, saturation and amplifier stages.

Tapeworm is Audio Unit (AUv3) compatible. This means you can use it with any input and output in your host.

Available for iOS on the App Store.
